
Alice Lucille Yawn Purvis, 96, of Tifton died Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Serenity Place in Dublin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. John Sims will officiate with burial to follow at Lenox Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Purvis was born on December 12, 1917 in Cook County and was the daughter of Samuel Lev Yawn and Almeda Serena Rentz Yawn, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Vernon Purvis, who died in 1990 and one son, Clyde Coleman Purvis. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Purvis is survived by six daughters and four sons-in-law, Faye and Vance Bennett of Middleburg, Florida, Pat and John Sims of Cleveland, Tennessee, Margaret and Richard Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Debbie Purvis of Tifton, Kim Purvis of Milledgeville, and Rita and Jay Barfoot of Bonaire; one brother, Homer Yawn of Harrison, Arkansas; a daughter-in-law, Carol Purvis of Memphis, Tennessee; three sisters, Louise Gunn of Smyrna, Lora Jumpp of Jacksonville, Florida and Estelle Davis of Gilbert, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
