Obituary

Edward J. McGinn, Jr., 91, longtime resident of the Fall River area, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Adams House in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Venancio) McGinn.
Son of the late Edward J. and Catherine (Coady) McGinn, he attended St. Mary’s Grammar School in Fall River and graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1943. After serving in WWII, he joined the Underwood Typewriter and Accounting Machine Corporation as an apprentice serviceman. He rose through the ranks of the company and in 1955, with longtime friend Thomas V. Roberts, he purchased the Underwood Corporation’s Fall River branch office and renamed it the Tri-City Office Equipment Corporation. After thirty years of partnership, they both sold the business and retired in 1985. Mr. McGinn was a lifetime member of both the Elks, Chapter 118 and The Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 9.
Survivors include his daughter: Lisa McGinn Canuel and her husband Fabien of Somerset; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John D. Sullivan, Ann (Sullivan) Donald and Mary (Sullivan) Chadwick.
Funeral services will be private.
