Obituary

HOLYOKE – Jeanne M. (Moise) Belair, 88, a longtime resident of Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, August 2, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at the Holyoke Health Care Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on April 28, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Clement and Antonia (Guilbault) Moise. She was raised in Aldenville, attended local schools and lived in Chicopee before moving to Holyoke where she raised her family and lived for most of her life. She was employed for many years at the former Holyoke Wire and Cable Company and the Chicopee Manufacturing Company before retiring around 1975. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke. Most of all, Jeanne was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roland R. Belair who was Called Home on October 20, 1994; her cherished grandson, Joseph “Joey” Lawrence, III who was Called Home on January 29, 2013; her dear brothers, Hervey “Curly” Moise who was Called Home on May 4, 2013, Gerald Moise, Louis Moise, and Ernest Moise; and her dear sister, Margaret Hickson. She leaves her loving children, Robert R. Belair and his wife, Nancy Belair, of Granby, Diane M. Lawrence and her husband, Joseph Lawrence, Jr., of South Hadley and Ronald R. Belair and his fiancée, Sandi LaFleche, of Chicopee; her two cherished granddaughters, Brenda Lawrence and her partner, Ken Ely, of Chicopee and Amy Belair of Redondo Beach, CA; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Cassandra Keller and her husband, Michael, Andrew Lawrence, Brittany Lawrence and Shelby Lawrence; her cherished great-great granddaughter, Gianna Keller; her dear brother, Daniel Moise of Holyoke; her dear sister and best friend, Theresa Belair of Holyoke; her dear sister-in-law, Alice L. Moise of Athol; her dear sisters-in-law of the Belair family, Rose Perrier, Rita Brisson, Patricia Davis and Theresa Napoleon; her special niece, Tina Lauzierz; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Belair and Moise families. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Holyoke Health Care for the compassionate care, attention and friendship they provided Jeanne over the past ten years of her long Journey Home. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, August 8, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
