Fall River – Mary E. (Cummings) Roy, 87, of Fall River died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was the former wife of the late Alfred J. Roy.
She was born in Dartmouth, daughter of the late Eugene A. “Ownie” and Bertha M. (Pierce) Cummings, and had lived in Little Compton for over 30 years prior to moving to Fall River over 20 years ago.
Mrs. Roy loved music, line dancing, playing the piano and was a member of the Heritage Park Chorus. She was a talented artist, who enjoyed painting in oils. An avid gardener, she loved nature and wildlife and was a member of the National Audubon Society. She loved to travel.
She is survived by a son: Peter K. Smith of Brockton; 2 daughters: Judith M. Wordell of Little Compton and Linda V. St. Yves of Sandwich, MA; several grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Katherine Wilkie, Robert E. “Hud” Cummings and Bessie L. Cummings.
