Norma M. Barrette, 81, of Old Pocasset Lane, formerly of Mapleville Road, Smithfield, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of David F. Barrette, Sr. They were married for 61 years.
Born in Canada, she was a daughter of the late Doria and Hattie (Sicard) Chapdelaine, she lived in Smithfield for 20 years before moving to Johnston.
Norma had been an Office Administrator for Amica Insurance until her retirement.
Besides her husband, she is also survived by her children: David Barrette, Jr. of Cumberland, Jacqueline Boucher of Bradenton, FL, Wayne Barrette of Palm Harbor, FL and Lisa Elgar of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren: Kerri, Michael, Brittany, Samantha, Sabrina, Adriana, Matthew, Andrew, Juliana; 5 great grandchildren: Miranda, Anthony, Jason, Christen and Joel; two sisters: Alice Gaumond of Smithfield, Rita Toolin of Warwick and a brother, Paul Chapdelaine of Johnston. She was the grandmother of the late Jason Tuttle and sister of the late Yvonee LaVallee, Roland, Raymond and Lionel Chapdelaine and Theresa Couture.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 23 at 9:30AM in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial is private. Visitation Tuesday 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1080 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904
