Obituary

Worcester - Marilyn (Nylin) Brooks, 83, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday July 20, 2014, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home.
Marilyn leaves her husband of 56 years, R. Emerson Brooks, 3 sons Roger Brooks and his wife Rene of New Hampshire, Jonathan Brooks and his wife Shelley of Charlton, Jeremy Brooks and his wife Barbara of Worcester and five grandchildren: Emerson and Ethan Brooks of New Hampshire, Elizabeth and Jonathan Brooks of Charlton, and Krystal Malouin of Worcester, and a sister-in-law Pat Nylin of Charlton. She was predeceased by her brother Ken Nylin of Charlton.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of George and Lily Nylin, Marilyn was educated in the public schools and graduated from Clark University in 1953 and received her Masters in Education from Worcester State College. She taught for 25 years in the Worcester Public Schools. She was a member of United Congregational Church, United Church of Christ for over 50 years and a member of Sweet Adelines for 35 years. Marilyn has donated her body as an anatomical gift for medical research to the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
A Memorial service under the direction of Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at United Congregational Church, UCC, 6 Institute Road, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Congregational Church, UCC, 6 Institute Road, Worcester, MA 01609; Sweet Adelines Post Road Chorus, c\o Young, 166 West Mountain St., Worcester MA 01606; or Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
