Obituary

SALEM- Elizabeth A. Haley, 85, wife of the late Earle J. Haley, a lifelong resident of Salem, died Monday morning, January 22, 2001, in the Sunbridge Nursing home in Lexington following a short illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Beatrice (Russell) Stevens.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary at the Salem Credit Bureau and other local organizations and businesses for several years. She previously worked for the First National Bank of Boston for over 15 years.

Elizabeth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salem and served the church as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, the Christian Endeavor and the Thought and Work Club. She was a former member of the Salem Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a graduate of Salem High School in 1933 and the Salem Commercial School.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon E. and Douglas Sievert of Salem, two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene A. and Teresa Haley of Everett, Rev. Richard E. and Judy Haley of Lowell, seven grandchildren, Garret Sievert, Andrew Sievert of Salem, Kevin Haley, Cara Haley, David Haley of Lowell, Alexander Haley Danielle Haley of Everett, one brother, Russell Stevens of Danvers, one sister, Ruth Sparkes of Ayer and one sister-in-law, Margaret Stevens of Beverly. She was predeceased by one brother, Albert Stevens.

Her funeral service was held on Thursday, January 25, 2001, at 10 AM in the First Baptist Church, 56 Federal St., Salem, with interim Pastor, Rev. Merle R. Pimentel, officiating. Visiting hours were Wednesday 5 to 8 PM at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
