Obituary

SALEM- Donald O. Wear, age 62, known as “Grumpy” by his friends, husband of Cecilia H. “Sally” (Carter) Wear, of English Street, Salem, died Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2001 at his residence following a short illness.

Born and raised in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Charles and Grace (Jones) Wear. Mr Wear was a resident of Salem since 1960.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for both F. W. Webb and for Federal Machine both in Salem. He was also employed part time by Holden Oil Company in Peabody.

Following his retirement, he enjoyed camping at the Oxbow Campground in Hillsboro, NH with his wife and family.

Besides his wife of 44 years, he is survived by two sons, Donald O. Wear Jr. of Salem, Christopher Wear and his fiancee, Tanya Spilman, of Beverly, two daughters and sons-in-law, Cecilia “Penny” and Thomas Rouleau of Salem, Christine “Chrissy” and Stanley Szczechowicz of Salem, six grandchildren, Thomas Rouleau, Timothy Rouleau, Cassandra Szczechowicz, Stanley Szczechowicz, Jr, all of Salem, Christopher Wear Jr, Kelsey Wear, both of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Francis, William, Charles, John and Douglas Wear.

His funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at 8 AM from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Visiting hours were Tuesday from 5 to 9 pm. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
