SALEM- Viola F. (Finniss) Rego, age 90, formerly of Salem and Peabody, died Monday afternoon, April 2, 2001 in a local nursing home following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Daniel Rego.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Rose (Sansoucy) Finniss.
Prior to her retirement in 1968, she was employed as a cashier and bookkeeper by A & P in New York City for 25 years. Following her retirement, she returned to Salem and then moved to Peabody in 1980.
Mrs Rego was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salem.
She is survived by one brother, Donald Finniss of Rochester, NH, three sisters, Velma Oliver of Salem, Barbara Munroe of Beverly, Ruth Averett of Cardiff-by-the-sea, California, two step sons, Daniel Rego, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC, Ernest Rego of Tucson, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert Finniss, R. Marshall Finniss, George Finniss, Warren Finniss, Earl Finniss, Frances McCarron and Joan Greaves.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 1 pm in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. There were no visiting hours.
