Obituary

Mulvey, Mary J., 93, of Rexhame (Marshfield), formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Dorchester, MA, daughter of Thomas and Mae J. Lee and sister to Thomas J., Mary was the loving and proud mother of William E. Mulvey and his wife Deborah of Hilton Head Island, SC; Robert F. Mulvey and his wife Florrie of Raleigh, NC; Kathleen M. Mulvey of Marshfield; and Maureen P. Doren and her husband George of Plymouth; loving grandmother of Susan C. Lavallee, Michelle L. Mulvey, Meredith C. Truitt, William R. Mulvey, Christine K. Doren and Michael G. Doren; great grandmother of Gregory R. Lavallee, Alexis M. Lavallee, Thatcher W. Truitt and Teagan E. Truitt.
Mary, a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy and Regis College, was a stay-at-home mom who loved to cook and sew for her family. She was always hands-on and involved in the activities of her children: Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts, sewing altar boy cassocks for Bob, driving Bill and Bob on their newspaper routes; Mary would pack up the family every February for ski vacations in New Hampshire and then summers in Rexhame (Marshfield). Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and as they grew up she always said that their phone calls and visits were “like a spring tonic” for her. Mary was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Celtics and could often be found wearing her Rondo shirt during games. She kept her family up to date on current events and politics, and encouraged everyone to vote as she filled out her own ballot. Mary will be fondly remembered for her many “Mary-isms” and wonderful sense of humor and love of life. Mary leaves her family a wonderful legacy, beautiful memories and her zest for life.
