Obituary

PEABODY, MA- Helen T. Finnegan, age 92, of Peabody, wife of the late William T. Finnegan, formerly of Salem, MA, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2001 in the Rosewood Nursing Home, Peabody, following a brief illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Fred R. and Pauline (Abbott) Varley. She was a resident of Salem until moving to Peabody in 1980.

Mrs. Finnegan was employed at Parker Bros. Games in Salem during the 1930's as a puzzle cutter.

She was a member of the First Universalist Church, Salem. She was P. N. G. and D. D. P. and 75 year member of the Arabella Rebecca Lodge, #83, Salem, and is a current member of Starlight Rebecca Lodge, #64, in Peabody. She was a member of many bodies within the I.O.O.F. including Ladies Encampment Auxiliary,

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Norman P. and Brenda Finnegan of Strafford, NH, four grandchildren, Alan B. Finnegan of Wakefield, NH, Craig J. Finnegan of Lebanon, NH, Daniel C. Finnegan and Leslie G. Marsh, both of Rochester, NH, three great grandchildren, Brianna Finnegan of Wakefield, NH, Duane Marsh and Elysha Marsh, both of Rochester, NH, one brother, Fred H. Varley of Chester, NH and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Harriet Hayes and Pauline LaBorde.

Her funeral service was held on Monday, April 9, 2001 at 11 am in the full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, with Rev. Gail Seavey, Pastor of the First Universalist Church, Salem, officiating. Visiting hours were Sunday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
