Obituary

WORCESTER-Stephen Stuka, 91, of 50 Pine View Avenue, died Sunday, March 24th in Providence Extended Care Center after an illness. He leaves his wife, Rita (Blais) Stuka; his son, Paul S. Stuka of Medfield; 3 brothers, Boleslaws Sztuka of Warren, Tadeus J. Sztuka of Worcester and Walter J. Sztuka, Jr. of Auburn; 3 sisters, Ann Aksten and Helen Painchaud both of Worcester, Sophie Pogorzelski of Millbury; 2 grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. 3 brothers, Joseph J., John W. and Stanley S. Sztuka predeceased him.

He was born in Lublin, Poland the son of Walter J. Sztuka, Sr. and Amelia (Klutka) Sztuka and lived in Worcester for many years. Mr. Stuka was employed at the former Handy Manufacturing Company for 35 years as a shipper and receiver. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Mr. Sztuka played the clarinet and the saxophone for several local Worcester bands.

The funeral will be held Thursday, March 28th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Liturgy of the Word service at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 27th from 5:00 until 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s High School, Scholarship Fund, 378 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA, 01545.
