Worcester - William Vincent Parenteau, a life-long resident of Worcester, died peacefully at his home on July 8, 2014. He was 82.
Bill was born on July 30, 1931 to Joseph and Mary Parenteau. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School, then joined the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in France, and met and married his wife Barbara while in England. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 6th.
After his return home to Worcester, Bill worked for Wyman-Gordon Company. He then worked for Thom McAn Shoe Company for several years, after which he worked for Sharfman Jewelers until his retirement.
Bill was a devout Catholic and long-time member of St. Peter’s parish where he passed the collection basket for many years. He was an avid bowler, member of the Auburn Elks Club, and loved to play cards at the Auburn Senior Center and St. Andrews Church in Worcester.
Bill was predeceased by his brother Paul. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his five children Sharon (Chip), JoAnn (David), Brian (Hui Chu), David, and Joseph, and his brother Earl. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, with his 9th due shortly.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 12th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Peter’s Church 931 Main St. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday, July 11th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Bill may be made the American Heart Association PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005.
