TOWNSEND: Virginia R. “Ginny” (Cain) Croft, 85, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her family at her son William’s residence in West Townsend on July 5, 2014 following a period of declining health.
Ginny was born in Milford on October 9, 1928 the daughter of the late William J. Cain and Gertrude E. (Kelly) Cain.
Ginny was the beloved wife of the late Harold L. “Harry” Croft, Jr. who died on February 7, 1978.
She was the loving mother of William L. Croft and his wife Susan D. of West Townsend; Robert J. Croft and his wife Patricia of Largo, FL; Leo H. Croft and his wife, Kathleen of Natick; Virginia A. Stemke and her husband Robert of Lakeside, CA and the late Christina M. Hottleman who died on July 23, 2004. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Ginny has resided in Townsend for the past three years and resided in Wayland for over 43 years. She spent her formative years in Canton and was a graduate of Canton High School.
For many years, Ginny and her husband Harry were the owners of Pep’s Corner Store in Wayland. Along with her husband, she was an active supporter and co-sponsor of Pep-Dukes softball team that played summers at the Cochituate ball field. Before retiring, Ginny was associated as a sales representative at Brockelman’s Market in Cochituate. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
At the request of her family, there will be no funeral home visitations.
Graveside services will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Croft family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Commonwealth Road West (Route 30), Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial donations in Ginny’s memory be sent to the American Cancer Society, 43 Nagog Park, Ste 110, Acton, MA 01720.
