SALEM- Genevieve (Pszenny) Wolkiewicz, 96, wife of the late Sygmunt S. Wolkiewicz, of Beverly, formerly of Salem, died Wednesday afternoon, July 18, 2001, in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Beverly, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late William and Aniela (Bartnicki) Pszenny. She was a resident of the city until moving to Beverly 12 years ago.
Mrs Wolkiewicz was a lifelong member of the St John The Baptist Church, Salem, and was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Polish Legion of American Veterans, USA, Post 55, the Women’s Polish American Citizens Club and the House of Seven Gables Settlement Association, all of Salem
She is survived by one son, Edward “Buddy Walker” Wolkiewicz of Salem, four granddaughters and spouses, Ellen and Glenn DuBois of Lunenburg, Jean and Dick Kenny of Salem, Mary Toppan of Gloucester, Wendy and Dana Cahill of Beverly, three grandsons and spouses, Edward and Ida Wolkiewicz of Pleasanton, CA, James Wolkiewicz of Beverly, Jesse and Robin Wolkiewicz of Beverly, eight great grandchildren, Jessica Wolkiewicz, Ginelle Wolkiewicz of Pleasanton, CA, David DuBois, Elsie DuBois of Lunenburg, Erin Toppan of Gloucester, James Wolkiewicz, David Wolkiewicz, Jake Cahill of Beverly, two sisters, Jane Sarnowski, Catherine and her husband Phil Pickett, all of Salem, one brother, Henry Pszenny of Salem, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mildred Grabowski, Alice Connolly, Alphonse, Raymond, James, Charles, Leo and John Pszenny.
Her funeral service was held on Monday, July 23, 2001, at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St John The Baptist Church, 28 St. Peter Street, Salem. Visiting hours were Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6 pm. Burial was in St Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
