Obituary

WORCESTER-Anna M. (Rafferty) Sarasin, 85, of Worcester died Sunday, March 24th in the Jewish Healthcare Center after an illness. Her husband George F. Sarasin died in 1995. She leaves 4 daughters, Dianne M. Albrizio of Millbury, Kathleen B. Hall and Gail S. Rice both of Worcester, Carol M. Gerbino of New Bedford; 4 brothers, Raymond, Edward and Arthur Rafferty all of Worcester, Richard Rafferty of Sutton and Florida; 3 sisters, Mary Attella of West Boylston, Sarah Erricola and Barbara Jacques both of Worcester; 8 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, James Rafferty and Owen Rafferty and a sister, Rita LaVallee all predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of James and Annie (McKinney) Rafferty and lived here all of her life. She graduated from Ascension High School and received a nursing degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing. She last worked as a nurse at the former Meadow Brook Nursing Home retiring in 1967. She previously had worked for many area nursing homes and also had worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in St. Vincent Hospital for many years. Mrs. Sarasin and her husband were co-founders of Anna Maria Rest Home. She was an avid traveler and a great mother and grandmother.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 27th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 9:30 AM in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 26th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
