Lillian Evans Helms, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, November 19, 2004, at Central United Methodist Church, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Gene Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Helms was born October 23, 1924, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late William Henry and Ida Lula Robitzsch Evans. She was a retired bookkeeper with Bank South, formerly The First State Bank of Fitzgerald and was a former bookkeeper for the Christian Kitchen. Mrs. Helms was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Upper Room Sunday School Class, and the UMW.
Mrs. Helms is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Jan Burch Barton and Ottis Barton, Tifton; two granddaughters: Tonia and her husband, Lee Waldrop and Jana Barton, all of Tifton; one step grandson: David Barton, Tifton; two great granddaughters: Courtney and Amber Waldrop, both of Tifton; one brother: Lloyd Evans, Clermont, FL; one sister: Mildred E. Griffin, Fitzgerald; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Helms and a grandson, Tim Smith.
