WORCESTER- Jose A. Rivera, 49, of 37 Wellington Street, died Tuesday, November 16th in U Mass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus after an illness. He leaves his wife, Migdalia (Rolon) Rivera, a son, Jose Alvarez, a daughter, Belinda DeJesus, stepson, Joseph Santana, 4 stepdaughters, Sindy Rivera and Rose Marie, Crystal and Ruth Santana, 5 brothers, Carmelo, Manny, Julio, Enrique and Raymond Rivera, 3 sisters, Carmen Jackson, Maria Melendez and Isabel Rivera, 3 grandchildren, many nephews and nieces.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York the son of Juan F. and Maximina (Hernandez) Rivera. Mr. Rivera was a counselor for AIDS Project Worcester working at various outreach centers including Henry Lee Willis Center, PIP Shelter and Compassion House.
The funeral is Friday, November 19th with a service at 2:30 PM in Concordia Lutheran Church, 86 Murray Avenue. A calling hour will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue the day of the funeral. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.
