Edmund J. Canto

PLAISTOW, NH - Edmund J. Canto, age 65, a former resident of Tewksbury, died unexpectedly
on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill. He was husband of the late
Thelma (Quinn) Canto who died in 1966, and later husband of the late Barbara
Canto.
He was born in Cambridge, on January 22, 1939, a son of Rita (O’Brien) Brousseau of Lowell,
and the late Edward Canto. He was raised in Cambridge, and graduated from Rindge Technical
High School in Cambridge. He lived in Wilmington and Tewksbury before moving to Maine. He
returned to live with his son in Plaistow, NH, last September.
He served in The U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and was a communications technician for
the Navy.
He worked as an electronic technician during his career. He worked for several area companies
including Megapulse in Bedford.
As a hobby, he enjoyed building and repairing computers.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Joseph Canto of Haverhill ans Raymond Canto of
Plaistow, NH; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Kenneth Cicero of Lowell, June and
Joseph Gallant of Tewksbury; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Janet (Ray) Canto of
Dorchester, John and Ellie (McCarthy) Canto, and Dennis and Donna (Medeiros) Blair all of
Donellon, FL, Joseph and Laura (Breen) Blair of Haverhill; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Rosemarie Smith.
Interment with Navy Honors was
held Monday, Nov. 22, in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath, Maine.
