Obituary

Ena M. Hodgkinson, 93, of Derry, NH died Tuesday November 16, 2004 at the Haven Health Center of Derry. She was born on December 8, 1910 in Lowell, MA, a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Butterfield) Bills. Mrs. Hodgkinson had been a resident of Derry for some 60 years, the widow of the Albert E. Hodgkinson who died on January 10, 1987. She retired from Chelmsford Shoe Co. in Derry where she worked for 20 years.
In her life: Mrs. Hodgkinson’s favorite pastimes were bingo games, doing crossword puzzles, and providing loving care for her cat, Gabriel. Friends and family were often the recipients of her beautiful pieces of embroidery and other handiwork for many years. She will also be remembered for her telling of witty stories, as well as interesting tales about people and places in the Derry area, both past and present. She was an avid fan of the Red Sox and felt she helped her team win the World Series by wearing her special Red Sox shirt and hat at Haven Health Center. To add to Ena’s enjoyment in life, she also took many trips with her friends and family to such places as Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Florida, Michigan, the Mississippi River on the Delta Queen, Nova Scotia and various other places on the eastern coast. She was predeceased by her brother, Earle V. Greeley in 1969.

She is survived by one step-daughter, Dorothy G. Marble, of Berwick, ME, one sister, Iola M. Zins of Windham, several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 18th at 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 - 8pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Derry Boys and Girls Club, PO Box 140, E. Derry, NH 03041.
