Whitman – Sarah P. Saccone 71 a long time resident of Whitman, formerly of Quincy, died Saturday June 28 after a long period of failing health.
Born and raised in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Carmello and Pearl (Mullen) Saccone. She is survived by her brother Joseph Saccone and his wife Carol of Whitman and was a beloved aunt to their four children, Sandra Saccone of Cambridge, Joseph and wife Delvina, Carl and wife Doreen, and Michael and wife Donna all of Whitman.
Sarah was a graduate of Quincy High School. She later went on to receive degrees with high honors from Quincy Junior College and from Stonehill College, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
For many years Sarah had worked as the Budget Director for the City of Quincy and had taught accounting for Anna Marie College of Paxton, MA. Prior to her retirement Sarah had also served as Town Manager for the Town of Whitman.
Sarah had truly enjoyed the times spent surrounded by her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all.
Her services will be held Thursday July 3 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday July 2 from 4-8 PM.
