Bernadette R. Morrissey, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at her daughters home in Lynn following an extended illness. She was 73 years old.
Bernadette was born in Boston on September 4, 1940, a daughter of the late Michael Morrissey and Regina (Deagan) Morrissey. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system. Bernadette worked for over 30 years as a visiting homemaker with Inner City of Malden Services. She was known as "Ma" to many and enjoyed bingo, knitting, playing cards, listening to music and was an avid movie buff.
Bernadette is the devoted mother of Caroline Bijan, Melissa Morrissey, Melinda Morrissey and the late Randy Morrissey. She is the loving Nana to Kelsey Houlihan, Billy Schofield, Joshua Houlihan and Samantha Bijan. She is the beloved twin sister of Bernie Morrissey and sister of Marilyn Broomstein, Genevieve Cahill, Lorraine Merrick, Michael Morrissey and the late Dennis Morrissey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bernadette's Funeral on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
