Elizabeth T. “Betty” Mountcastle, age 87, of Brockton, died June 28, 2014 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the beloved wife for 66 years of John R., Mountcastle, III. Born and raised in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Maurice F. and Ann E. (Dunn) Dalton. Betty was a graduate of St. Patrick High School, class of 1944. She had been employed by the Government as an Administrative Assistant for 20 years and was an Administrative Assistant and Broker in Real Estate, also for 20 years. She was a longtime member of BAARC and had been a past Officer; was active with the Downey Little League; member of TOPS and an avid reader and television viewer. Her first priority was always to take care of her family. She was the devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her children John R. Mountcastle IV and his wife Cassandra of Brockton, James M. Mountcastle and his wife Stephanie of California, Ann E. Badger and her husband Ronald of Brockton, Margie E. Petrides and her husband Dave of Milford and William D. “Billy” Mountcastle of Brockton. She also leaves six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mildred Hancock, Eileen Galvin, Martin Dalton, William Dalton and Dorothy Barrett.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 8am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Betty’s name to the Brockton Area ARC, 1250 W. Chestnut Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
