CHICOPEE - Kathleine M. "Kathy" (Smith) Slowik, 49, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at the Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on November 3, 1964, a beloved daughter of Anne M. (Cote) Smith of Chicopee and the late John H. Smith who was Called Home on May 18, 1998. She was raised in the Liberty Heights section of Springfield and graduated from Putnam Vocational High School in Springfield. She lived in Springfield for many years before moving to the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee in 2002. She furthered her education in Human Resource Management by attending Holyoke Community College. She was previously employed at the Louis and Clark Drug Store on Page Boulevard in East Springfield and later was the office manager for 12 years at Hayes Prosthetics in West Springfield. She was a longtime member of the First Central Baptist Church in Chicopee and currently attended the Harvest Bible Church in Ludlow. During her leisure time, Kathy enjoyed traveling the area in search of tag sales. She was a member of the American Pool Players Association. Besides her beloved mother, she leaves her loving husband, Michael C. Slowik, her loving daughter, Nicole Makayla DiDomenico, and her loving step-daughter, Samantha M. Slowik, all of Chicopee; her cherished sister, Constance M. "Connie" Brassard and her husband, Phillip, of Chicopee; her cherished brother, Thomas P. Smith and his companion, Lynn Byrne, of Chicopee; her dear brother-in-law, James A. Slowik and his wife, Carleen, of Chicopee; her dear father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stanley H. Slowik, Jr. and his wife, Marie J. (Deslauriers) Slowik, of Chicopee; and her many dear aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, her cherished grand-niece, Haley, numerous cousins and extended members of the Slowik and Smith families. She will also be missed by her faithful canine companion, Max. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal will follow the service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
