Elmer Mason Price, 88, of Tifton died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Forum Sunday school class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 27, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Price was born on September 6, 1925 in Quitman and was the son of Julian Mason Price and Ruth Wilson Price, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Roberts Price, who died in 2008; one son, Robert Wilson Price, who died in 2011; one daughter, Lillian Alison Price; and one brother, Julian Edwin Price. He owned and operated Colony Cleaners in Tifton for 58 years. He graduated from the University of Georgia in June of 1949 with a BBA in Finance. While at the University of Georgia, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Kappa. He enjoyed golfing and yard work and was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was in the pilot training program. He was also a member of the Exchange Club of Tifton.
Mr. Price is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Mason and Mary Frances Price of Tifton and Perry Alan Price of Tifton; one sister, Julia Gray of Tifton; and three grandchildren, Terry Daniel Price and his wife Kat Amano, Brian Joseph Price and Perrin Elizabeth Price.
