Obituary

Dexter C. Russell, age 83, died peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2002 at the Kindred Hospital in Boston.

He was born in Winchester on March 10, 1919 to the late William and Annie Russell. He was a resident of Medford for over fifty years.

He enlisted into the Navy during World War II. His honors and commendations include the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, The Phillipian Medal, as well as the American Area Medal. Dexter was very proud of the fact that he sailed on the P.T.'s vessels during World War II.

He was employed as a custodian for the Medford Public Schools for over 25 years.

He is the beloved husband of the late Evelyn T. (Riley) Russell. Loving father of Marcia Ann Wolfson of Melrose, Gail M. and her husband George Bernard of VT, Marilee J. and her husband David I. Duff of Cape Cod, Donald M. and his wife Nancy V. Russell of Billerica, Deborah J. Kypriotes of Saugus, Peter C. Russell of Derry, NH, Thomas N. Russell of Medford, Bonnie J. and her husband Brad DeFlumeri of Everett, and the late William D. Russell. Also survived by 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

His funeral service is, Thursday, March 21st, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Mr. Russell was a very devoted father, a lovable man with a happy-go-lucky attitude toward life. He will be deeply missed.
