James F. "Jimmy" Cambra, 58, of New Bedford died June 24, 2014 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Thelma T.R. Cambra, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church in East Freetown.
Jimmy was formerly employed by the Department of Public Works with the City of New Bedford.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, writing poetry and music.
Survivors include his longtime companion of 43 years, Lori Lea Gonsalves of New Bedford; 2 sons, Brandon Gonsalves and his girlfriend Alyssa Souza and Sterling Gonsalves and his girlfriend Melissa Kenyon, all of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Shyla Mendes and Desarae Ramos, both of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Rose Marie Cambra and Marlene Cambra, all of New Bedford; his brother, John Cambra and his wife Lori of Fall River; 4 grandchildren, Jamil Gonsalves, Jasmine Gonsalves, Shalia Mendes and Shamara Mendes; and several nieces and nephews.
His Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd at 12 Noon in the Calvary Pentecostal Church, 33 Braley Rd., East Freetown, MA 02717. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Calvary Pentecostal Church.
