Judith M. (Marois) Saunders, 73, of New Bedford died Wednesday June 18, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Saunders.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Leo R. and Mary (Scully) Marois, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Saunders was formerly employed as a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital.
She graduated from New Bedford High School, Class of 1958, and the Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge, Class of 1959, as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She later received her Registered Nurse degree from Bristol Community College.
Her grandchildren were the lights of her life and she especially loved spending time with them. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox.
She is survived by three children, Thomas F. Saunders, Jr., Marybeth Finnerty and her husband Kevin, and Matthew A. Saunders; a brother, Paul S. Marois; three grandchildren, Jonathan and Emma Finnerty and Noah Saunders; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with visitation 6-8 PM prior to the service. Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
