Mary (O’Brien) Certuse, 88, a resident of Mansfield, died on June 17, 2014. She was the widow of the late Aldo J. “Footie” Certuse. They were married on September 1, 1962.
Born in Attleboro on June 28, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Helen (Donahue) O’Brien of Attleboro. She graduated from Attleboro High School in 1943.
Mrs. Certuse worked for Sweet Manufacturing of West Mansfield before retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield. She liked to crochet, listen to good music and she had a special love for animals, especially dogs.
Mrs. Certuse leaves a daughter, Maureen (McCarthy) Corrigan and her husband Bill, of Cambridge, and two sons: J. Michael McCarthy of Attleboro and David McCarthy of Washington, DC, and one grandson, Liam Corrigan of Cambridge, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Margaret “Peg” McAvoy of Attleboro, the late Francis O’Brien of New York City, the late Thomas O’Brien of Fort Pierce, Florida, and the late J. William O’Brien of Hyannis.
Private services will be held at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield. Visiting hours have been omitted.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
