Ida M. Weiss, 85, of Derry, NH, died Friday, November 12, 2004 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Mrs. Weiss was born in Derry on May 5, 1919, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Harriett J. (Cross) Smart. She was a lifelong resident of Derry. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, Class of 1939. Throughout her life she worked for many local businesses. She was a former member of the Central Congregational Church in Derry. Mrs. Weiss was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also an avid Red Sox fan who took great pleasure in seeing her team finally win the World Series.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Charles L. Weiss of Derry, three sons, William Crawford and his wife Beth of Derry, Robert Crawford of Rumney, NH, Ronald Crawford and his wife Pamela of Derry, one daughter-in-Law, Midge Crawford of Raymond, two step-sons, Richard A. Weiss and Jeffrey P. Weiss, both of Radcliff, KY, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one brother, Ernest Smart of Litchfield, one cousin, Raymond Smart of Raymond. She was predeceased by one daughter Linda Mae Gero, one son, Richard Charles Crawford, two brothers, Charles Smart Jr. and Harold Smart and one sister, Violet Collela.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, NH Region, 6 Chennell Drive, Suite 260, Concord, NH 03301. The Peabody Funeral Homes and crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling the arrangements.
