Viola A. Savage, age 96, died peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford. She was born in Malden, on July 27, 1905 to Walter J. and Grace T. (Hartins) Ballou.
Viola was a lifelong resident of Medford as well as a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She was active in the church, a member of the Sodality of St. Joseph's, the Sodality's bowling league, and the Mother's Club at the church. She was also a member of A.A.R.P. (Medford Chapter). She was very active at 96, she lived alone and enjoyed eating out a lot. She was employed as a cashier at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for over 15 years until her retirement.
She was the beloved wife of the late Frank James Savage. Loving mother of Evelyn M. and her husband Phillip J.. Ternullo of Medford, Robert F. and his wife Jeanne Savage of Villanova, PA, Claire T. and her husband John E. Keon of Wakefield, Rev. Fr. James W. Savage of Cambridge, Marilyn A. and her husband Michael J. Herrick of Wakefield and the late Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Savage, S.J. Devoted sister of Sister Loretto Mary, O.F.M. of Allegheny, NY. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Donations in Viola's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
