Marcis Braunfelds, 37, loving husband and father, died peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2014, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. A resident of Westwood, Marcis was raised in the Bronx, attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and lived in Paris and New Haven. Best friend and husband of Daiva Gostautas Braunfelds, and dedicated father to Jonas (10), and Aiste (8). Marcis will also be missed by mother, Maija, Aunt Velga Stokes, Uncle Incis Saulitis and in-laws Maryte and Stasys Gostautas. He was pre-deceased by his father Marcis Braunfelds. He leaves behind his five sisters, Aija, Rita, Daina, Mara, Laila, in-laws, Maya, Alex, Vytas and their families. Marcis will be remembered most for his tireless devotion to his family and friends, his generous and warm heart, his wonderful smile and sense of humor, and love of music and song.
The family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Wednesday, June 18th at the Latvian Lutheran Church, 58 Irving Street, Brookline, MA 02445. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19th at 2:00p.m. at the Latvian Lutheran Church. At Marcis’ request, expressions of sympathy may be made as contributions to the Braunfelds Family Education Fund to be set up to provide for Jonas and Aiste’s education.
