Martin G. Stahly, of Plymouth, died on June 10th at Beth Israel Deaconess - Plymouth at the age of 89. He was the son of Alfred E. Stahly and Sartoris Sturtevant. He is survived by his beloved wife Jannette (Trafford) of 69 years in Manomet and his children Dennette Madsen of Manomet, Richard Stahly of Rhode Island and Deborah Bishop of Manomet. He also leaves his grandchildren Joanne Heres and Richard Madsen, Tye and
Derek Stahly, Joseph, Ramona, Jeremy and Raydes Bishop and his great grandchildren Jamie and James Heres, Nicole Wood, Alex Stahly and Kylie Madsen. He was the grandfather of the late George B. Madsen III.
Martin was born in Boston and graduated from the Franklin Institute. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII and received 2 Purple Hearts and 2 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the DAV, the American Legion, the John Alden Sportman's Club and the Plymouth Rod and Gun CLub. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, landscaping and especially spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16th at the 2nd Congregational Church of Plymouth in Manomet at 11AM followed by burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the 2nd Church of Plymouth, P.O. Box 1754, Manomet,
