Obituary

Nikolaos Papalilo, 88, of Worcester, died Wednesday, June 11th in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Maria (Zaari) Papalilo; two sons, Sotiri Papalilo and his wife, Patricia of Shrewsbury and Christos Papalilo and his wife, Alexandra of Marlborough; his daughter, Marina Gilantzis of Worcester; and his seven grand-children, Nicholas, Athena, Cassandra Papalilo and Eliana and Joanna Gilantzis, Zachary and Tatyana Papalilo.
He was born in Leskovik, Albania the son of Themisoklis and Evthoxia (Jancho) Papalilo. Mr. Papalilo had been a self employed baker and confectioner in Istanbul. He came to Worcester in 1969 with his family to start a new life in the United States. He, like many others of the Orthodox community then began work at Table Talk Pie. Whether in his garden, making delicious desserts or spending time with his family, he was most happy with the simple gifts of life. Mr. Papalilo was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Baker and Confectionary Union.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, for the wonderful care provided to Nikolaos during his stay there
His funeral is Saturday, June 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 13th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
