WORCESTER-Regina K. (Lavallee) Fitzgerald, 82 of 39 First Street, died Thursday, November 11th in Holden Nursing Home after a long illness. Her husband, Edward F. Fitzgerald died in 1984. She leaves a son, Thomas F. and his wife Betty A. Fitzgerald of Springfield, 2 daughters, Kathleen A. wife of John R. Hammerstrom of W. Boylston and Mary Ellen Fitzgerald wife of Robert Carpenter of Rhodendron, OR, a brother, Karl T. Lavallee of Holden, 6 grandchildren, Timothy and Andrew Fitzgerald both of Springfield, Kathryn, Emily and Brian Hammerstrom all of W. Boylston and Erin Christopher Carpenter of Rhodendron, OR, many nephews and nieces. 4 brothers and 3 sisters predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Oscar J. and Katherine E. (Moriarty) Lavallee and lived here all of her life. She graduated from Ascension High School. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a telephone operator for UMass for many years, until retiring in 1993. Previously she worked for the Worcester County Institution for Savings and New England Telephone & Telegraph Company. She volunteered at the Coes Pond Village Library.
The funeral is Saturday, November 20th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour is from 9:30 until 10:30 the morning of the funeral in the funeral home.
