Obituary

CULLITY, THOMAS E. SFO, USMC Veteran of the Korean War, age 83. Passed peacefully at home on June 5, surrounded by loving family. Preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Sylvia (Hayes) & sisters Mary Livingston of Somerville & Anne Mortimer of Charlestown. Tom was a life long fan of his beloved Red Sox for 75 years & saw them win the 2013 World Series. In his younger days he ran the Boston Marathon with Clarence DeMar when there were only 300 entries. His whole career was spent teaching in City schools. His favorite being Josiah Quincy School in Chinatown. Tom was a member of the 3rd Order Franciscans. He was also active in serving Mass, all ministries & prayer groups at St. Augustine & St. Monica’s. Life long friend of Fr. Ed Williams, OMI, Fr. Philip Conroy & the late Jack Dowd, Jake McContley (The Three Marines). Survived by his sisters Marion Wilson, Regina King of Abington & Dorothy & Kevin Burns of Easton, sister in law Florence Burke & husband Jack of Plymouth & several nieces & nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 6 Baxter Street, Quincy, MA 02169 or the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Avenue #2, Norwood, MA 02062. Visiting hours will be held at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM. Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, June 12 in St. Monica’s Church at 11 AM, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
