Theresa (Bognar) Szilassy, 87, of Medway died peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Ivan V. Szilassy who died in 2007.
Born in Hungary on August 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Palszabo) Szilassy.
Mrs. Szilassy was a resident of Medway since 1950 and worked in the Medway Public School System for many years. She had also worked in Budapest for the Ministry of Hungary during WWII.
Mrs. Szilassy proudly earned her American citizenship in 1969 and enjoyed visiting her home land of Hungary.
Mrs. Szilassy was an avid tennis fan and player.
She is survived by her children, George Szilassy of Martha’s Vineyard, Peter Szilassy of Fredericksburg, VA, Kathleen Quiles of Hanover, Elizabeth Szilassy and Esther Silver, both of Weymouth and Agnes von Szilassy and Ivan Szilassy, both of Medway.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister Madeline of Hungary and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held privately at St. Joseph Church in Medway. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
