FALL RIVER … Dorothy M. (DeCosta) Simoes, 75, of Westport passed away June 6, 2014 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.
She was the wife of Avelino Simoes, Jr. of Westport.
She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Louis DeCosta and the late ODelia (Carreira) DeCosta Miranda, and had lived in Westport since 1956.
Dorothy was employed as a machine operator with the former Louis Hand for 25 years and then the former Needle Trade for 10 years before retiring.
Mrs. Simoes was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport. She loved reading and the Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include her husband, 2 sons: Stephen M. and his wife Barbara and Scott R. and his fiancée Stacy Torres all of Fall River, 2 daughters: Cheryl A. Senecal and her husband Steven R. of Somerset and Tammy J. Souza and her husband William Jr. of Westport, a brother Richard DeCosta and his wife Andrea of Dartmouth, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 569 Sanford Road, Westport. Calling hours will be Monday 5 – 8 P.M. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
