Dracut, MA – Gertrude E. Cavazzi of Dracut, Ma, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2014 at home following a lengthy illness. She was 86.
Gertrude was the beloved wife of the late Peter A. Cavazzi, Sr. who passed away 10 years ago.
Born in Cambridge, Gertrude grew up as the only girl of 7 children of the late William L. and Jennie (Brignolia) Tracy. Gertrude was raised and educated in Cambridge, MA where she attended Cambridge schools.
Gertrude and Pete were married nearly 65 years ago on November 18, 1949. Gertrude and Pete resided in Tewksbury, MA for more than 50 years where they raised their family. Following their marriage, the young couple settled in Somerville where they started their family, before moving to Tewksbury in the late 50’s. Together, Gertrude and Pete were inseparable and enjoyed spending time with their friends and family. Gertrude cherished spending time with her family, taking trips to the beach, reading, painting and creating lovely ceramic household accents for her loved ones.
Gertrude will be missed by her three sons, William A. Cavazzi and his wife Elaine of Boca Raton, FL; Peter A. Cavazzi Jr. and his wife Kim of Dracut, MA with whom she made her home for the last 10 years; and Steven R. Cavazzi and his wife Vivian of Lowell, MA. She was the loving grandmother to 4 grandchildren, Mrs. (Clint) Shelley Stohler, Mrs. (Neal) Stacy Bruce, Mrs. (Mat) Shannon Turpin of Indiana; and Brian R. Cavazzi of Dracut, MA. She was pre-deceased by her 6 brothers, Vincent, Herbert, William, George, John and Laurence. She will also be missed by her loving nieces, Mrs. (Ben) Jane Clark of Michigan, and Mrs. (John) Kathy Carlisle of Cambridge, MA ; 2 sisters in law, Stella Tracy of Michigan and Isabel Tracy of Melrose, MA as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service was held Wednesday, June 11. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
