..Inventor, CFO at Xenon Corp.
MEDFORD - Carmen Richard Panico, age 72, a Veteran, Co-founder, CFO & Vice President of Xenon Corporation and holder of many patents for his various inventions, died peacefully Monday night, June 2, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Clark) Panico, with whom he was to celebrate a 47th wedding anniversary on the day after his death, June 3rd.
Richard was born in the Roxbury section of Boston on October 25, 1941, one of nine children of the late Carmen and Mary (Buccelli) Panico. He was raised in Roxbury, and graduated Boston English High School. He later attended Northeastern University. He enlisted into the US Air Force, and later served during the Vietnam War. He began his work career at Boston City hospital, and later along with his brother Lou, co-founded Xenon Corporation, now based in Wilmington. He was passionate inventor, who held numerous patents for his works over the years.
In his youth he was a member of the Charles River Sailing Club, which served underprivileged inner city children. He was later employed by the club, which would eventually lead him to become a member of the Courageous Sailing Club in Charlestown. He was also a recreational aircraft pilot, and was a member of the Executive Flyers Association, based at Hanscom A.F.B. in Lexington. Later in life he enjoyed many trips to the Casinos in Rhode Island, Connecticut and beyond.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen M. and Scott Dell’Arciprete of Tewksbury; a son, Daniel J. Panico of Vineyard Haven, MA; three beloved grandchildren, Ashlee, and Britnee Dell’Arciprete and Chase Daniel Panico; his siblings, Vincent and his wife Jenny Panico of Cambridge, Robert and his wife Marion Panico of Quincy, Agnes and her husband Gino Merlo of Everett, Louis and his wife Marcia Panico of Danvers; his sisters-in-law, Norma Panico of Arlington, Alice Megna of Woburn, Barbara (Clark) Ryan-Arnold; his brothers-in-law, Robert Clark and wife Dorothy, and the late Paul Clark of Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Duffy, Joseph Panico, Bernadine Panico, and Eugene Megna.
