Obituary

James R. “Bob” McTigue, 91, formerly of Worcester died Sunday, June 1st in St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol, RI. His wife of 50 years, Alfreda (Kusmierski) McTigue died in 2000. He leaves a son, James R. McTigue, Jr. and his wife, Carla of Fairfax, VA; three daughters, Suzanne M. Magaziner and her husband, Ira of Bristol, RI, Linda Bushee and her husband, John of Bristol, RI and Nancy E. Cornwell and her husband, David of Newport News, VA; eight grandchildren, Katrina and Georgie McTigue, Seth, Jonathan and his wife, Jennifer and Sarah Magaziner, Brendon and his wife, Natalia, Jonathan and his wife, Jennifer and William Cornwell; four great grandchildren, Madison, Asher, Gabrielle and Aleksander Cornwell and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward V. McTigue, Walter L. McTigue and Francis J. McTigue and a sister, Mary E. O’Brien.
Mr. McTigue was born and raised in Worcester the son of Francis J. and Nellie A. (Carpenter) McTigue and lived here most of his life. He graduated from South High School and resided for many years at Franklin Court Assisted Living in Bristol. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II seeing action in the South Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He retired from Wyman Gordon Company in 1987. Mr. McTigue enjoyed his extended family, his Irish heritage and the Red Sox.
His funeral is Saturday, June 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Calling hours are Friday, June 6th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
