Obituary

Peter John Santarelli, 58 of Salem, NH died peacefully Saturday May 31, 2014 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH surrounded by his family.
He was born in Hartford, CT on March 8, 1956 a son of the late Joseph and Lucia (Pizzoferrato) Santarelli.
Peter was raised in Wethersfield, CT and graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1974. He played football for coach Joe Cottone and played in the first Thanksgiving Day football classic and was named offensive lineman MVP. Peter went on to graduate from Southern Connecticut State University in 1979. He had lived in Milford, NH before moving to Salem, NH in 1996 and was a communicant of St. Mary and Joseph Church in Salem.
He was employed as an IT Consultant and had been employed at A.I.G Insurance and Neps Inc., both in Manchester, NH and most recently was employed at Fidelity Investments in Merrimack, NH.
Peter was very active in youth basketball, Baseball and Football in Salem.
He loved hosting family gatherings, and carrying on many cherished traditions. He also was an avid Boston sports fan.
Members of his family include his wife, Marilyn (Sterling) Santarelli, of Salem, a son Peter J. Santarelli II of Salem, a brother and sister in-law, Joseph and Joan Santarelli of South Hamilton, MA and their children Jake and Joy Santarelli; a sister and brother in-law, Susan and Stan Moore of Wethersfield, CT, and their children Brandon, Katelyn and Kirsten Moore; and a sister and brother in-law Nancy and Michael Funaro of Middletown, CT, and their children Taylor and Michael Funaro; a step-daughter Tanya Rivet and her husband Mark of Merrimack, NH; four grandchildren, Brittany Beland, Paige, Hailey and Zachary Rivet.
Calling hours will be held Thursday June 5, 2014 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 6th at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
