
Francis X. Powers, Jr., 71, of Rutland, passed away Saturday, May 31st in his home surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Sandra K. Duncan; a son, Stephen M. Powers and his wife Melissa of Holden; two daughters, Kimberly A. Flynn and her husband Kevin of Spencer and Christine M. Toupin and her husband Scott of Oakham; a brother, Donald W. Powers of Lantana, FL; a sister, Doris T. Mountain of Worcester; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Francis X. Powers, Sr. and Hazel R. (Standring) Powers and lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Rutland. Mr. Powers worked in corporate security for various companies, including Norton Company-St. Gobain before retiring. He was a member of Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Parish, Worcester, the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council, and the Norco Sportsman’s Club, Princeton. He was a U.S. Army of the Vietnam War and later served in the National Guard for many years.
The funeral is Thursday, June 5th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 4th in the funeral home.
