Paul S. Beattie
Beloved husband, father and grandfather
TEWKSBURY: Paul S. "Papa" Beattie, age 72, a resident of Tewksbury for 45 years, formerly of Somerville, passed away at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Friday, May 30, 2014.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (DeStefano) Beattie, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on January 30, 2014.
Born in Woburn on September 8, 1941, he was the son of the late Sherman P. Beattie and the late Feodora (Renault) Beattie.
Paul was raised in Cambridge and Somerville. He attended Somerville schools and graduated from Somerville High School.
Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War Era. He was awarded several decorations for his military service including the Good Conduct Medal and the Marksman Badge.
Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated P.B. Auto Village in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire for over 15 years.
During his leisure time, Paul enjoyed coaching numerous teams for the Tewksbury Youth Baseball Program including the "Pirates".
His greatest joy was attending the athletic events and activities of his much loved grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Paul's family includes his son, Brian P. Beattie; his daughter, Tracey L. Dickey and her husband Robert; four grandchildren, Robert P., Daniel J., Julia R., and the late Thomas A. Dickey; one brother, Richard Curtin; one sister, Lola Lowman; also several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, June 2, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Tuesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover, MA.
