Obituary

Cheryl Ann Sparling Lambert, age 67, formerly of Smithfield and Wickford, RI, passed away suddenly at her home in North Ft. Meyers, Florida on May 25, 2014. She is survived by her husband Raymond Lambert, her daughter Christine Harding and her husband, Scott of Cranston, RI, her son, Daniel Nardelli and his wife, Jennifer, of Glocester, RI. She was known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren: Erin, Anna, Lilly and Maggie Nardelli and Nathan, Benjamin and Samuel Harding. She is also survived by her siblings: Susan Sparling Lass of Rehoboth, MA; Lynn Sparling and her husband, Joseph Sedlak of GlennDale, MD; Karen Sparling of South Portland, ME, Robert Sparling and his wife, Dolores of Cedar Crest, NM; Ann Sparling and her husband James Junkins of Windham, ME and James Sparling of Scarborough, ME. She also leaves two stepsons: Christopher Lambert and his wife Shannon; Craig Lambert and his wife, Roxanne and step-grandchildren Amelia, Quinlan, Nolan and Campbell. S, and was Auntie to many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Robert O. and Annette Sparling.
Born in Providence, RI, her childhood years were spent in North Scituate, Harmony and then in Greenville, RI. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Bay View and later earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from the Community College of Rhode Island.
She was employed at Rhode Island Hospital for many years before transitioning to visiting nurse with the VNA and with other health care organizations in Rhode Island and later in Florida until her death.
She was a member of her community bowling league and of the Heron’s Glen Sorority.
Cheryl traveled extensively with her husband, Ray, and loved every minute of it. She enjoyed entertaining at their home and was a great cook. She was highly creative and had a natural talent for interior decorating, as a seamstress and as a collector. She would spend hours happily combing the beaches for sea glass and sand dollars. She was a terrible driver, loved the sun, gardening, bingo, cards, parties, wardrobing, jewelry and red fingernails. Most of all she loved her family and friends.
She was, in a word, a hoot. She was a beautiful, high-spirited, adventurous, fun-loving and outrageously funny woman who will be sadly missed and remembered with a smile by all who knew and loved her.
Her Funeral will be held Monday at 10:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. Mass of Christian burial at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in Swan Point Cemetery. Visitation Monday 9-10:30am.
