Bedford– Wanda S. Smagula, 94, died May 25, 2014 at Catholic Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester on August 7, 1919 one of 8 children to Walter and Antonina (Oleskowicz) Jamro.
Prior to her retirement she had worked in the Waumbec Mills as a Textile Inspector for 30 years.
She enjoyed crafts, including, embroidery, fancy Easter egg designing. She went by the moniker “Easter Bunny”.
She had belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary # 244 of San Diego, the Lemon Grove Senior Travelers Club of San Diego as well as St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church of San Diego. Following her time in California she moved back to NH to reside in Bedford with her daughter, Marlene Herod.
Family members include 2 daughters, Patty Canuel and her husband, Julien of Manchester, Marlene Herod and her husband, Franklyn of Bedford, 1 son, Matthew Wietecha and his wife, Cathy of Manchester, 3 grandchildren, Wendy Canuel of Manchester, Erin Wietecha, Brian Wietecha, both of New York City, NY., 2 step grandchildren, Kevin Soper and Katelyn Soper and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kimberly Herod on February 7, 2014.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
