MAGNOLIA: Patrick Joseph Stanton, Jr., 80, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
Born in Dorchester on March 15, 1934, he was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Burke) Stanton. He had resided in Dorchester and Walpole for many years before moving to Magnolia in 1988.
Patrick was a graduate of B.C. High School. He received his B.S. degree in math and his Master’s in Business Administration from Boston College (Triple Eagle).
He was employed as a systems analyst and an IT consultant for several major companies. He was an avid reader and enjoyed tennis and playing the piano. He especially loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his eight children: Susan Watson and her husband, Stephen of Reading; Sally Stanton of Northport, ME; Maureen Stanton of Georgetown, ME; Joanne King and her husband, Matthew of Marshfield; Patrick Stanton, III, and his partner, Michelle Purinton of Bethel, ME; Barbara Goodhue and her husband, Ken, of Westford; and Michael Stanton and his wife, Ann-Marie Fittro; and Colin Stanton of Boston; and by nine grandchildren: Stephanie, Joseph and Natalie Watson, Miles LaMar, Kevin and Sara King, Donald Goodhue, and Samuel and Benjamin Stanton; a brother, John “Jack” Stanton of San Jose, CA; a sister, Miriam Williams of Plymouth, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Stanton.
His funeral service will be held on Friday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 1 p.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Francis House, 39 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02116. Interment will be held in Dolliver Memorial Cemetery, W. Gloucester..
