Mrs. Janice E. “Janet” (Sylvia) Gamache, of Taunton, died Monday, May 26 in Marian Manor, surrounded by her loving family, following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of Arthur W. Gamache. She was born 74 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Mary C. Sylvia and the late Sergio A. Santos. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, Janet had been a self-employed hairdresser for 20 years, and had formerly worked at Roma’s Beauty Salon in Taunton. She was previously employed as a sales clerk for the former W.T. Grant Department Store in Taunton. She was a member of several camping clubs in the area and was an animal lover who belonged to several Humane Societies. Janet enjoyed crocheting and computer games. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
In addition to her husband, she leaves: 1 daughter: Brenda Cwiek and her husband, Walter of Taunton; 1 brother: Joseph Santos of Westport; 1 sister: Amelia Santos of Clearwater, Fla.; her Godchild: Melissa Rose and her husband, Joshua of Mansfield, and 3 nieces.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, May 30 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
