Mr. Richard Curry, of Taunton and formerly of Raynham, died Monday, May 26 in Taunton Nursing Home following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Harriet V. (Dorr) Curry. He was born 92 years ago in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, the son of the late John W. and Bessie (Harrison) Curry. He was educated in Westbrook,Maine and had been a Taunton area resident for the past 50 years. Prior to his retirement, Richard had owned and operated both the Curry Real Estate Co. and Richard Curry Carpenter and Builder of Raynham for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in France and Germany with the 546th Field Artillary Battalion. He was Past Commander of the American Legion Post of Freeport, Maine, and was a Life Member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks. Richard enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He formerly attended the Universalist Church in Westbrook, Maine.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 2 sons: Keith Chipman and his wife, Janet of Blackstone, Ma., and Richard Curry and his wife, Linda of Raynham; 1 daughter: Sandra Pond and her husband Warren of E. Taunton, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Richard was also the father of the late Leroy Chipman of Pittsburgh, Pa.
A Graveside Service will be held in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham, on Saturday, June 14 at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Taunton Nursing Home Activities Fund, 350 Norton Ave., Taunton, Ma., 02780. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
