SHANAHAN, Jo-Ann F. (Lydon). Of Needham, originally from West Roxbury and later Wellesley, died May 25 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was 76.
Loving wife of the late Robert L. Shanahan. Devoted mother of Robert L. Shanahan Jr. and his wife Kai of Newton, Suzanne Shanahan and her husband Bill Tobin of Durham NC, Rachael McCarthy and her husband Todd of Newton. Cherished grandmother of Bobby, Mitchell and Lucy Shanahan, Mira, Willow and Ivy Tobin, Meghan, Sean, Marguerite, Kathryn, Shannon and Thomas McCarthy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jo-Ann graduated from Girls Latin School, Boston Teachers College and Bridgewater State College. She was a retired school teacher who spent over thirty years teaching in the Boston school system, most recently at Dorchester High School. Jo-Ann enjoyed traveling to Key West and boating with her late husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren locally, at Cape Cod, and North Carolina.
